Pre-departure Orientation for J-1 Visa Holders |
|

The Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) is pleased to announce that starting 18 May 2012 (Friday), the conduct of the Pre-Departure Orientation Seminar (PDOS) for Exchange Visitor Participants will be held twice a week, every Wednesday and Friday. The new schedules of orientation are as follows:

We suggest that all EVP participants to at least come an hour before the orientation seminar to avoid inconvenience. Please be informed that the numbers of attendees are LIMITED to the maximum capacity of our orientation rooms. Moreover, we will ONLY accommodate EVP Participants with COMPLETE REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS (e.g. approriate visa, DS-2019, filled up registration form, etc.)

Exchange Visitor Program refers to the international exchange program administered by the United States to implement the Mutual Education and Cultural Exchange Act of 1961, as amended, Public Law 87-256, 22 USC 2451, et seq. (1988). The purpose of the Act is to increase mutual understanding between the peoples of the United States and the people of other countries by means of educational and cultural exchanges. Educational and cultural exchanges assist in furthering the United States' foreign policy objectives.

Background of Exchange Vistor Program in the Philippines |

The Exchange Visitor Program (EVP) was created through the US Surplus Property Act of 1944, as amended by Public Law No. 79-584. Said Act authorized the US Secretary of State to enter into agreement with any foreign government for the financing of certain educational activities using currencies acquired by the US government from the sale of US surplus properties outside of its territory.

Notice of Availability of Financial Grants for Graduate and Postgraduate Studies |

The Exchange Visitor Program (EVP) Committee of the Philippines is accepting applications for financial assistance under its Enhancement Training Sponsorship Project (ETSP). The ETSP is funded by EVP participants who are undertaking alternative arrangements in lieu of the two-year home-country residency requirement of the program.
It allots a maximum of US$1,500.00 per beneficiary, per course, with the funding being released at the beginning of each term/semester. It is for qualified professionals who seek to pursue graduate and postgraduate studies as well as short courses/training program in any university in the Philippines. Thesis/Dissertation Grants are also being offered.

2007 EVP Skills List |

Effective 8 April 2010, the Exchange Visitor Program (EVP) Committee adopts the 2007 EVP Skills List of the Philippines. The said list includes fields of specialized knowledge or skills, which are short of local practitioners or of particular importance in Philippine national development initiatives.
EVP participants whose fields of specialization or training are covered by the Skills List are subject to the two-year home-country residency requirement of Section 212(e) of the US Immigration and Nationality Act.
